FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - The Army's largest training installation is inviting the public to tour the post and get an up-close look at how soldiers are trained.
Maj. Gen. James Milano is inviting citizens to come to Fort Jackson outside Columbia on Feb. 16 for a six-hour tour.
Visitors will be able to view how soldiers train, shoot an M-16 rifle simulator, eat in an Army dining hall and attend the soldiers' graduation on the post's parade field.
Those who would like to attend should reserve a spot by calling Fort Jackson's community relations office by Wednesday at 803-751-7650.
More than 60,000 soldiers take basic and advanced training at Fort Jackson every year.
